Dr Loretta Kilroe - Curator at the British Museum

Dr Loretta Kilroe (Class of 2009) graduated from the University of Oxford with three degrees, including a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Egyptology. Her academic journey also includes a Master of Studies in Oriental Studies (Distinction) and a Bachelor of Arts in Egyptology. Her doctoral research focused on the transformation of pilgrim flasks in post-New Kingdom Nubia, contributing valuable insights to the field.
Currently, Dr Kilroe serves as IB Curator for Sudan and Nubia at the British Museum and is Assistant Editor for the Sudan & Nubia journal. During her time at Oxford, she co-founded the Sudan: Ancient and Modern Lecture Society, which promoted interdisciplinary dialogue and community engagement through conferences, exhibitions, and public lectures.
Her journey reflects the AESG values of intellectual curiosity, global citizenship, and leadership. We are incredibly proud of Dr Kilroe and her contributions to archaeology, cultural heritage, and museum curation.
