Performing Arts
Performing Arts is a vibrant and much-loved part of life at Alderley Edge School for Girls, offering pupils the chance to express themselves creatively, build confidence, and develop performance skills in a supportive environment. From curriculum lessons to Senior School productions, girls are encouraged to explore all aspects of theatre, acting, dance, directing, stage management, and technical design.

Our annual school productions are a highlight of the year, bringing together pupils from across year groups to perform in professional-standard shows that captivate audiences and celebrate the arts. Whether performing on stage or working behind the scenes, every pupil has the opportunity to shine. Recent shows have included, Matilda, Legally Blonde, Wizard of Oz and Sister Act.
Performing Arts Scholars
Pupils can also audition to become part of our prestigious Scholarships Programme.
Performing Arts Scholars will be invited to an ‘invite only’ Drama and Dance Club and Scholars are given the opportunity to audition and take part in the various ISA Arts Competitions, some of which are held at regional host schools with a variety of Independent Schools from across the UK attending.

The Scholars will take roles in school productions and performances. They will also showcase their talents in events throughout the year. Scholars will be invited to attend workshops led by outside companies and professionals. There will be no fee remission for Performing Arts Scholarships, however a programme of theatre visits, visiting actors and workshops will be available at no cost to the Scholar.
“Watching my daughter grow through drama at AESG has been truly remarkable. She started as a quiet, introverted girl who would shy away from speaking in front of others. Now, she’s confidently performing on stage and recently took one of the leading roles in the school play. The support, encouragement, and opportunities she’s had have transformed her, not just as a performer, but as a person.” - Year 9 Parent
Music
Music is at the heart of life at Alderley Edge School for Girls, enriching our community and offering every pupil the chance to explore their creativity, build confidence, and develop a lifelong appreciation for the arts. From the earliest years through to Sixth Form, girls are encouraged to participate in a wide range of musical experiences, both in and beyond the classroom. Our curriculum is designed to be inclusive and inspiring, combining practical performance with theory, composition, and music technology.

We are proud of our thriving co-curricular music programme, which includes choirs, orchestras and ensembles. Pupils regularly perform in school concerts, local festivals, and prestigious venues, showcasing their talents and celebrating their progress. Many girls also pursue individual instrumental and vocal tuition, with several achieving high grades in ABRSM and Trinity exams. Whether performing on stage, composing original pieces, or collaborating with peers, music at AESG fosters creativity, discipline, and joy.
