Our Nursery and Pre-School girls embraced a rainy start to the Autumn term in their splash suits and headed out for a very wet leaf hunt! Buckets in hand, they collected colourful leaves, and even discovered they could catch the rain pouring from the sky ☔️
A little drizzle didn’t dampen their curiosity or joy! 💙

The Nursery and Pre-School girls had a truly wonderful adventure on their trip to Chester Zoo!
Excitement was high as the children explored the zoo, spotting all sorts of amazing animals, from tall giraffes and stripey zebras to playful monkeys and sleepy lions. The penguins were a particular favourite, with lots of giggles as they waddled and splashed in the water!
The girls were full of curiosity, asking thoughtful questions and sharing what they already knew about the animals. Staff were so proud of how beautifully the children represented AESG, walking sensibly, listening carefully, and showing fantastic enthusiasm throughout the day.
It was a fun-filled outing full of discovery, learning, and special memories. What a brilliant day!

What a glorious morning for the AESG Nursery & Pre-School Sports Day! ☀️
There was so much fun running, racing, jumping, and cheering with friends on the big school field! From speedy sprints to the princess dress up race, the girls gave it their all and had the best time.
A big cheer also for all the amazing dads who joined in for the special Father’s Day race - we think they had just as much fun as the girls!
What a wonderful way to celebrate being active, brave, and full of energy - well done, everyone!

The sun was shining, the sea breeze was just right, and the girls had a brilliant time exploring the shoreline. They searched for shells, discovered a tiny crab (which everyone took turns holding!), and enjoyed all the wonders of nature. Our Nursery and Pre-School girls have been learning about The Five Senses, and this past week have been exploring the world of ‘smells’. From making rosemary-scented play dough to reading “Farley Follows His Nose,” the girls followed their noses just like Farley the dog, discovering new scents along the way!
They’ve been creative with lemon-scented play dough and even made scented paints, ranging from zesty lemon to spicy curry!
A highlight was the farmyard yoga session 🧘♀️ and a fun scent hunt during Forest School, where the girls explored the smells of nature. 🌳
Such a wonderful week of exploration, creativity, and fun! 💕

During Science Week, our Nursery and Pre-School enjoyed a fascinating hands-on activity exploring the wonders of colour mixing in oil. Using vibrant food colouring, they discovered how different colours move, mix, and swirl when added to oil, creating beautiful, fluid patterns.
This creative experiment ties directly to the Understanding the World area of the EYFS curriculum, encouraging children to explore and investigate materials and how they behave. By observing the colours' movement and changes, the children developed an early understanding of cause and effect, as well as curiosity about how the world works. Through this activity, they were also able to enhance their fine motor skills and engage in problem-solving, all while having fun with sensory play!

Today, as part of Science Week, we have been focusing on bridge building. Our day started with the game ‘The floor is lava’, when the girls had to find a suitable piece of furniture to sit on so that they were not on the floor when the lava exploded out of the volcano.
Following that, we talked about bridges and discovered that some of girls had been over bridges when they came across water or a train track. We looked at suspension bridges online and then the girls attempted to build their own bridges using wooden blocks. It was a tricky skill, as many of the bridges were tall and would topple over.
Once our bridges were built, the girls found a toy animal each, and we re-played ‘the floor is lava’. The aim was to save the animals from the lava. It was great fun!
Our bridge building extended into the water tray, where we coloured the water red, and connected both water trays with a bridge. The girls were totally and utterly engaged with pouring the lava (water) down gutters and into buckets.
Our bridge building also continued outside, where we turned ourselves into bridges and tried crawling under one another other. We also connected crates and tyres with planks to make bridges and the girls travelled over and under the bridges as they played. We saw lots of wonderful balancing skills and also many girls carried risk assessments before travelling over the planks, to make sure that the planks were in a safe position.

Today we welcomed the amazing team from Wilmslow Fire Service to AESG for a fun and informative day focused on fire safety.
Our Early Years had an exciting time learning about the different equipment the fire service uses, from fire hoses to breathing apparatus, and even got to experience the thrilling lights and sirens up close whilst sitting in the fire truck!
At AESG, and noted in our recent ISI report, we rigorously adhere to the safety and wellbeing of our children, and we believe that fire safety education is paramount and an essential part of their development.
We’re so grateful to the Wilmslow Fire Service for their time and expertise – it’s so important for children to know what to do in an emergency, and today was a fantastic way to learn these life-saving skills in a fun and engaging way.
