A Level Results 2023
Alderley Edge School for Girls is celebrating the incredible achievements of its Year 13 students as they receive their outstanding results on A Level results day.
This year, almost one third of all grades were A*- A and two thirds of all grades were A* - B. Amongst the cohort for this year, students are leaving AESG to become Doctors, Lawyers as well as Artists and Graphic Designers, demonstrating the School’s ability to cater for a diverse range of career paths.
There have been many individual successes including Ellie A from Bollington who has received A*A*A B with an A* in Art & Design, A* in Photography, A Geography and B in Biology. Ellie will be going to Loughborough University to study Graphic Design. Sahar C from Alderley Edge received AAAC and will go to Leeds University to read Medicine.
Another future Medic, Lucy C from Aston by Budworth received AAA and will read Medicine at Nottingham University. Staying in the field of Science, Isobel H from Wilmslow will read Chemistry at Imperial College London.
As well as Doctors and Lawyers, students will be attending Universities throughout the UK reading a wide range of subjects and courses, which demonstrates the diversity at Alderley Edge School for Girls. Amelie TC will be reading Physics and Astronomy and Clarissa R will be reading Rural Enterprise at Harper Adams. Lauren H who received A*A C has taken up a prestigious Fine Art course at Edinburgh University.
Students studying English Language, Physics, Spanish, PE, Art and Photography all received A* to B grades, which again shows talent in the breadth of subjects on offer at Alderley Edge School for Girls.
Headmistress, Mrs Nicola Smillie said: “We are all delighted with this year’s results. It’s been a tough year for A Levels as results settle down to pre-pandemic grading, however our students have proven that an AESG education opens doors to many aspirational career routes.”

Head of Sixth Form, Ms Billington, added: “This year’s Year 13 have not had it easy, they missed much of their GCSE years as well as their exams in Year 11. They then returned to school to embark on their A Level courses in what was an unknown era. The girls have been incredibly supportive of each other arranging group revision sessions, being there for one another and boosting morale through to their final exams. The results of every girl are a testament to the hard work they have put in and we couldn’t be prouder.”
