Happiness is the key to good progress and outstanding pastoral care typifies life at AESG and within the Junior School.
Our girls are happy and love coming to school. Each girl knows she is valued as an individual and is very much a part of the whole school community.
Our class sizes are small; class teachers know the girls well and so can support them as individuals, both in their learning and from a pastoral point of view.
Our Friendship Council includes representatives from each year group and is very active, helping to promote kindness and care within our community. In addition, the Orange Juice Club provides a quiet time for girls to talk to a member of our staff should they have any particular friendship worries that they need to share.
We recognise the importance of equipping the girls with the skills they need to cope with the pressures that modern day life can bring as they grow older and that embedding these at a young age will stand them in good stead as they move through the School and into their adult life.
To support this, the introduction of mindfulness in the Junior School has had a very positive impact and is delivered by our own mindfulness practitioner. Girls in the Infant classes use the My Happy Mind programme whilst girls in the Junior classes use Mindfulness in Schools Project Paws b.
