“The pastoral is at the centre of everything.” (Good Schools Guide)
A happy child is a child who will flourish and, at Alderley Edge School for Girls, we regard the pastoral care of our students as paramount. The School adopts a pro-active approach to pastoral care with a focus on building character, resilience, mindfulness (both myHappymind and Paws b are offered in the Junior School) and outstanding relationships between staff and students.
Our small class sizes ensure that each child is known as an individual and girls are taught the skills to face the challenges of growing up in the 21st century. Our approachable form tutors and pastoral team are always there to help whenever needed and our girls grow into confident, secure and mature young women who are able to face the world outside of our school gates.
Our school is built on strong Christian foundations. We provide an environment in which moral values are clearly stated: girls are educated to have an understanding of and a concern about issues of peace, justice and human wellbeing. They show a commitment to core values of friendship, compassion, trust and community, and are keen to make a difference in the world. The School has a small Chapel which provides the opportunity for prayer and quiet reflection. This is well used by students and staff of all faiths and none.
Although we are a Christian school, we happily welcome others who are of a different faith or none, but who share our values. We are committed to what unites rather than what divides and we respect and celebrate this diversity within our school.
