Religious Studies
Religious Studies examines the fundamental questions about our purpose in life, our relationship with others, how we can influence events, and our concept of God. We are living in a world of different belief systems and values and RS looks at how we face the challenges of society in the 21st Century. In RS, we learn about religion and from religion; we question and explore whilst supporting those who have faith; we allow everyone to walk their own spiritual journey.
We study Philosophy and Ethics at A level. An enquiring, critical and reflective approach is essential! In Philosophy we investigate the Cosmological Argument, Religious Experience, Psychology and Religion, and finally Atheism and Postmodernism. In Ethics we examine Utilitarianism, Situation Ethics, the Nature and Value of Human Life, Abortion and Euthanasia. At A2, you will continue your study of Philosophy and in Ethics you will carry out your own Ethical Enquiry into Medical Ethics.
