ICT

We are living in an age in which an enormous amount of information is produced, communicated and stored digitally every day. The information published on the World Wide Web alone is colossal.  Our day to day lives are increasingly dependent on digital technologies. It is therefore extremely important for members of society to be equipped with the skills required to take full advantage of the fantastic opportunities that a modern technology-led society can offer.

Our ICT curriculum is designed to develop fundamental skills and capabilities across a range of software within a range of contexts; such as school, home, community, recreation, business and industry.

Our primary aim is to develop confident and independent users of ICT with the skills needed to be able to adapt to continuous technological change.

The A Level in ICT moves students on from being ICT users to skilled ICT practitioners.  The focus is primarily on creating well-designed and functional software solutions for clients.  Students develop a deep understanding of the Systems Life Cycle and Project Management and aim to become expert in a variety of software applications.  In addition to this students develop critical thinking and problem solving skills that are very useful in other areas of life.
