Business Studies

Business and Economics are fascinating, widely relevant and up-to-date subjects which draw on the commercial world around us. Live, real-time events provoke class discussions that move beyond the examination syllabus to enrich our girls’ knowledge.

Both subjects are very popular with girls both at school and at University, which is hardly surprising given that there are over 6,000 university courses to choose from! 

We offer GCSE Business, A level Business and A level Economics and Business.

Our girls have achieved excellent examination results at both GCSE and A Level.
100% of girls achieved grades A* - C for their GCSE in Business (2010)
50% of girls achieved a grade A* or A

100% achieved grades A* - C in A Level Business (2010)
50% of girls achieved a grade A/A*
29% of girls achieved a grade A* with two girls achieving 100% in the final paper.

Uniquely, we offer weekly lessons in Business and Enterprise to Year 9 pupils. This is a very lively course which requires practical and problem solving skills to create products, plans, forecasts small business ideas.  It culminates in the girls presenting business proposals and prototypes at our Dragons’ Fair for real-live “dragons”, known more commonly as local business owners.
