Year 4 girls from Alderley Edge School for Girls went on their annual trip to Bramall Hall this week as part of their History studies into the Tudor era.
Dressed in traditional clothing from the period, the girls were transported back in time as they crossed the threshold of the wicket door and became guests of the Davenport family who were preparing for the Yuletide celebrations. They learned about the feasting, made nosegays, played musical instruments of that time as and also took part in a traditional mummers’ play.
Deputy Head of the Junior School, Miss Bridget Howard commented, “The girls and staff really enjoyed the day at Bramall Hall, it is always exciting for them to experience more about the time and see for themselves what Victorian life was really like. The tour included information on architectural design, the family history that made Bramall Hall what it is today and of course, a trip to the gift shop and tea room”.
