Ms B Howard

Junior School Headmistress |

Ms Howard started her career at St Albans High School. She then worked in Sydney, Australia before returning to the UK in 1993. She went on to work at Manchester High School for Girls before moving to Bolton School Girls’ Division.

In 2010, Ms Howard joined AESG as Deputy Head of the Junior School and took over the headship of the Junior School in April 2013.

Mrs H Thomaides

Head of Early Years and Infants |

Mrs Thomaides joined the Junior School in 2001, following her completion of a degree in Early Childhood Studies at the University of Manchester and PGCE from Manchester Metropolitan University. Initially teaching in Years 1 and 2, she then joined the Junior School Management Team.

With the introduction of the newly revised Early Years Foundation Stage, she has played a key role in leading the phased development of the Early Years Department, whilst continuing to support and have an overview of the teaching and learning in Years 1 and 2. She has a particular interest in child development and the teaching of phonics to support reading and writing.

Mrs H Jeys

Headmistress |

Mrs Jeys grew up in Staffordshire before attending Durham University where she gained a First Class Honours Degree in Theology (with ancient languages). After a further stint at Cambridge University, she started her teaching career at The Manchester Grammar School. She then went onto lead Religion & Philosophy Departments at Malvern Girls’ College, Hulme Grammar School for Boys and Manchester High School for Girls. She enjoyed diverse roles at Manchester High School for Girls; from leading the first cohort of girls through the International Baccalaureate Diploma to being Head of Years 8 – 11 before becoming Deputy Head Mistress (Pastoral) in 2012.

She is passionate about holistic approaches to education and has written many nationally published articles on issues relating to girls’ schools and education. She is also an author of Philosophy textbooks for sixth form students. She has led external training sessions on data in schools and has spoken on the radio about various pastoral ventures including mindfulness and wellbeing. Mrs Jeys enjoys her responsibilities on the Education Committee for the Girls’ School Association and as a school inspector. She joined Alderley Edge School for Girls as Headmistress in September 2016.
