Governors
Alderley Edge School for Girls has 13 Governors. Our Governors work closely with the Headmistress and the Senior Management Team to ensure that pupils receive the best education and that pupil achievement is promoted.
Key duties of the Governing body are to
- set the school’s strategic direction, policies and objectives
- approve the school budget, and review progress against the school’s core objectives

Shirley Herring
Shirley has been the Chairman of the Governors at Alderley Edge School for Girls since Autumn 2008
Canon Brendan Clover
A former Cathedral head chorister, Brendan returned to the Cathedral world as Canon Precentor of Bristol Cathedral in 1999
Lillian Croston
Lillian has been a Governor at Alderley Edge School for Girls since the beginning.
Kathy Doyle
Kathy is a retired barrister and law lecturer with a particular interest in medico-legal matters.
Irene Hegarty
Irene Hegarty has been a Governor at Alderley Edge School for Girls since its creation and was previously a Governor at Mount Carmel School.
Sister Patricia Hughes
Sr Pat has a BA (Hons) in Social and Professional Studies and has over 20 years experience as a Social Worker.
Alistair Macdonald
Former award-winning BBC TV reporter and producer Alistair Macdonald now trains directors in the private and public sectors.
Robert Nolan
Bob is a non-executive director of Epistem plc and of Phico Therapeutics Ltd, both of which are exploratory biotechnology companies.
