Exam Results

Alderley Edge School for Girls celebrated another year of impressive A Level and GCSE results in 2011. Achievements were high in all 23 of the subjects available to the girls, including both Science and Arts subjects:  100% Grade A in Further Maths; 100% A* to C in Mathematics; 100% A* to B in French; 100% A* to A in Art; 63% A* to A in Geography and 57% A* or A in Chemistry.

Individual Successes at A Level included:

Natasha Carroll who gained 12 A*s in her GCSEs scored 2A*s and one A grade at A level.
Natasha will be reading Medicine at Newcastle University. 

Georgie Gough who achieved 2A*s and one A grade

Olivia Lonsdale who achieved one A* and 3A grades

Sophie Thomas 2A*s 1A and 1B grade, Charlotte Hook 1A* and 3A grades. 

Twins Lucinda and Alice Woodhead, who both chose the same subjects for A level, also performed extremely well, scoring 3A grades, 2As and a B – however they will be going their separate ways for University, one to Leeds and one to Newcastle. 

For the second year running the School excelled at Cambridge Pre U English, the alternative to A levels, with girls scoring highly. A special mention must go to Jenny Metcalfe who scored the top grade Distinction 1, the grade boundary for which is even higher than A* at A level. Jenny also gained an A* in History and an A in French and will be going to Oxford University to read English.

Alderley Edge School for Girls was proud to receive the honour of top school for Cambridge Pre U English from the Good Schools Guide last term.

 In January 2011, Alderley Edge School for Girls achieved the top spot for A Level results in Cheshire¹ with an average score of 966 points and narrowly missing out on the top spot for GCSE results in Cheshire and ranked well above the National average.

Holly Smith with 11A* grades and an A grade in Additional Mathematics FSMQ

Heather McHale with 11A* grades

Emelia Eadie, Zoe Smith and Rebecca Snelson with 8A* and 3A grades each

Emily Blunt with 7A* and 4A grades

Amy Houghton with 6A* and 5A grades

Noor Hamond with 6A* and 4A grades

Alex Raper and Lucy Lynch with 5A*s and 5A grades each.
