We also support our pupils who participate in thier own charity fundraising and initiatives - this includes Sophie Roberts who raised over £1400 at a concert she held for The Mampong Babies Home in Ghana, Amy Francis who produced a single and held a concert with the support of five other local schools to raise funds for the Gitare School in Kenya, and Mimi Rostron who continuously raises funds for projects in Sengal. You can read more about Mimi's fundraising below:

I was first made aware of the many issues Senegal has through some family friends living in Spain. This led to me and some of my friends at AESG getting involved with Campementos Solidarious, a Spanish organisation based in Madrid.  Senegal is a beautiful country in the west of Africa.  It suffers from large amounts of poverty in even its most developed towns and cities which means that rural areas are often extremely neglected by the Government; such areas do not seem to get much money or help from the Senegalese authorities.

In the past two years we (Campementos Solidarious) have raised money for, and built, an extremely basic version of an incubator for a remote village called Badian.  This has allowed at least 10 new born babies whose chances of living looked very bleak to, thankfully, survive.

We have also provided toys and clothes for the children in another village’s (Seleki) nursery.
Before we arrived in Seleki the only poster in the nursery was an information sheet telling the children what to do if they came across an unexploded missile!  We also donated much-needed stationery for the secondary school in Seleki and provided water wells for the pupils, as most of the children didn’t have access to clean, fresh water.  As well as this we have funded and built a school allotment so the children can learn how to grow vegetables and eat healthy, nutritious meals during the day.

At school, we have mainly raised money through Bake Sales and by collecting unwanted DVDs and CDs to sell to Music Magpie.  Indeed, we recently raised over £300 from Music Magpie and, at Christmas time, ran a competition for the best decorated form room (there was a £5 entrance fee for each form taking part).  Overall, we have raised well over £1000 to date.  We hope to raise more money by thinking of new, imaginative ways of fundraising and are keen to start to collect unwanted items of clothing, such as t-shirts and sportswear for the people of the villages.

Thank you to everyone who has helped raise money for the lovely people of Senegal!
