Chaplaincy and Spiritual Life
Our school is built on strong Christian foundations and our girls have a strong moral conscience.
They are aware of the world which they will enter and are prepared to play their part as global citizens, with a clear understanding of right and wrong and the courage and conviction to stand up for their beliefs.
They understand how quickly our society is changing – and not always for the good – and are prepared to lead rather than follow.
They are prepared to look out rather than look in, they are keen to make a difference and see that as their duty.
Alderley Edge School for Girls is proud to be associated with The Woodard Schools Foundation, and follows the values, religious focus and the Eucharistic practice of the group. Reverend Jane Parry, the Vicar of St Philip and St James, comes to take our assemblies, both in the Junior and Senior School.
In addition we are proud that our school also grew from Mount Carmel (a School of the Sisters of St Joseph) and we have a Roman Catholic Lay Chaplain who works with the girls and staff, as well as a Priest who comes to say Mass for us regularly.
Both the Woodard Foundation and the Sisters of St Joseph are represented on our Governing Body and they play a key part in the direction and running of the School.
Our third Chaplain is Reverend Ben Clowes, the Methodist Minister in the village, who comes to school, as Revd Jane does, to take assemblies.
We are proud of our ecumenical nature and look for what unites rather what divides. All girls will attend church services and assemblies within School and this is an integral part of School life and of who we are as a community.
